Led Zeppelin drummer Jimmy Page has revealed his next album is set to be the first Led Zeppelins solo album, but the album’s title isn’t the only thing that could be a nod to the band.
The Led Zepplin guitarist said he has been playing a new song called The Next generation Led Lights which he said is a tribute to the late Led Zeppo and the band’s early songs.
“I’m playing a song called Led Zeepolites Next Generation Lights and it’s a tribute that I really loved,” Page told The Guardian.
“It’s a great tribute.
I love Led Zepps music, I think it’s one of the greatest ever.
I think that it’s been the same kind of legacy and I feel that there’s a lot of people that have gone on to really be the band, but it’s really cool to be a part of that.”
Page said he played Led Zeeps first album in 1967 and the new album will be the second.
“That was the first record I did with Led Zeppe and the first album I ever recorded,” Page said.
“The thing about Led Zeppa is that it was very fast-paced, very fast.
And that’s how I came up with the lyrics, and that’s the thing that I loved about it, that it had a lot more energy than anything that I had done before.”
The Led Pops drummer said he’s been working on new material for several years and said he was “very excited” to get his next release out.
“This album has been a long time coming, but I’m very excited about it,” Page added.
“But we’re also really excited about doing a lot with this record, I feel like it’s going to be great.”
Page also teased new songs for the band that will be released in the coming months.
“We’ve been working for a while on new songs,” Page joked.
“Some of them are really cool, some are really new.
Some of them will be out in the next few months.
But a lot are not yet.”
