The makers of the LED lights that will transform Christmas trees into mini-drones have released a video showing off how they are built.
The miniature led LED lights, designed to mimic the performance of real LED lights in the tree, were created in collaboration with UK company BlueSky and are expected to arrive in the US next year.
“The goal of the project was to design an LED light that could be put into a tree that could simulate the performance and look of a real LED light, which is quite a challenging thing to achieve,” said Tom Hutton, founder and chief executive of BlueSky, in a statement.
The company said the new LED lights were the first to combine the performance characteristics of LEDs with the low cost of materials used in LED lighting.
“We have found that LEDs have great performance characteristics but the high cost of LEDs make them difficult to produce and the cost of the LEDs is still a significant barrier to entry,” Mr Hutton added.
The LEDs, which can be used to illuminate a tree’s branches, branches, or other objects, are expected be used for the festive season.
